BRIDGES
What Is A Dental Bridge?
This is a fixed method of replacing missing teeth which uses the existing teeth either side of the space for support. A dental bridge is only possible if there are healthy teeth either side of the missing space. Its main advantage is that it offers a quick replacement for a missing tooth as treatment only takes a matter of weeks. Its disadvantage is that it involves cutting down firm healthy teeth to act as supports. In the long term this can prove detrimental to the tooth.
If you do not have sufficient bone for dental implants or do not want to undergo implant treatment then a conventional tooth support bridge could provide a quick and predictable solution.
Providing the teeth which support the bridge remain healthy and free from gum disease a bridge should provide many years of trouble free function, looking and feeling almost as good as natural teeth.
